Cybersecurity Awareness Month Explained

This October marks the 18th installment of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM). Initially NCSAM was launched by the Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance to ensure that organizations and consumers alike are ready to take on the ever expanding cybersecurity landscape.

Since its inception 18 years ago Cybersecurity Awareness month has continued to grow exponentially, reaching consumers, small and medium-sized businesses, corporations, and educational institutions across the U.S.

This year, ransomware attacks have continuously disrupted schools, healthcare organizations, pipelines, food suppliers, and many other sectors, often resulting in disruptions that have impacted the U.S. public drastically. The theme for 2021 is ‘Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart,’ helping to empower individuals and organizations to own their role in protecting their part of cyberspace.
